CALIFORNIA, Pa. - West Chester's women's tennis squad shut out Shippensburg, 9-0, in a match played at California, Pa., tennis facility Saturday afternoon. The Golden Rams swept all six singles and all three doubles competitions to secure the blanking of the Raiders.
Maria Kostaris topped Jackie Kramer at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and also teamed up with Rose Conwell at No. 1 doubles to better Kramer and teammate Kristen Herman, 8-5.
Each squad used the same six players in both the singles and doubles competitions, meaning Kostaris, Conwell, Jennifer Litchman, Katie Edwards, Teresa Grasso and Kara Schumock were each double winners on the afternoon. Schumock blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Edwards and Grasso each dropped just one set, outdueling their counterparts by similar 6-1, 6-0 marks.
West Chester hosts LaSalle Sunday morning in a home match.
